Dear Visitacion Valley neighbor,
I regret not being able to attend the Visitacion Valley History Project’s meeting this Saturday due to a previously scheduled out-of-town engagement.
I wish I could be there to share some good news! Last Thursday, as part of an overall Branch Library Improvement Program report, we recommended increasing the budget of the Visitacion Valley project from $5,942,500 to $11,400,000 (nearly $5.5 million). This budget increase will allow us to build a new 8,700 square foot stand alone branch library at the corner of Leland & Rutland. By rescheduling other BLIP projects, we will be able to restart design work on your branch this summer.
The Library Commission will consider this proposal on Thursday, March 1, 2007 at 4:30 pm (Main Library, 100 Larkin, Koret Auditorium). We welcome your attendance at the meeting to share your thoughts and support for the new Visitacion Valley branch.
Once this new budget is approved, we will hold a community meeting to discuss next steps. Stay tuned for a date and time.
Thank you,
Luis Herrera
City Librarian
